VolMusic.al is an interactive platform that serves as a commonplace for Colombia’s intangible musical heritage so future youth generations can learn from the country’s diversity and unique mixes while also improving its music industry.
VolMusic.al aims for the creation of a digital space that encourages the preservation, understanding, and history of a part of Colombia’s intangible heritage: music. This interactive media project will work to be one of the largest musical databases by mapping (in a multi-layered map of Colombia) each enrolled musician or band to the region and city they belong to. Aimed specifically for the third-culture generations of Colombians that don’t know much about their heritage, they will learn musically, geographically, and culturally, the importance of oral continuity in music. By navigating through this website visitors will learn from the unique connections that exist between musicians and their cities of origin by listening and sharing the artists’ music.
